Presidential Handover at the AGM on 14th January 2005  David Bull (right) President for the year 2004 handed over the Chain of Ofice to Mike Rumsey after his election as President for the year 2005 at the Society's AGM. David Bull was thanked for his efforts and leadership during the Society's Diamond Jubilee Year 2004. Colchester is a prestigious town and is Britain's Oldest Recorded Town. Some say it is the cultural capital of East Anglia. Colchester's claim to this cultural title includes a thriving Colchester Engineering Society, founded in 1944 and with nearly 300 members.

Colchester has contributed to advances in Engineering Technology in many fields and has been the home of many famous Engineering names. The Colchester Engineering Society is proud to continue the traditions and future of Enineering, Science and Technology in the District.

Its current activities include regular technical lectures, programmes of Winter and Summer visits and other activities aimed at the promotion of Engineering and the development of young people.

At the First public meeting held in the Colchester Technical College, North Hill on 24 February 1944, Mr. Edward Paxman was installed as Founder President. The names of the elected Founder Members can be seen in the records.                                       Shown here are the two publications on the Society's History. The first on the 50years 1944 to 1994; The second on the 10years 1994 to 2004 published for the Society's Diamond Jubilee.

.Membership is open to Professional Engineers from all disciplines and to all others with an enthusiasm for engineering in Colchester.

2004 was the Diamond Jubilee of the Society.
