COLCHESTER ENGINEERING SOCIETY
Page Down for Application Form

COLCHESTER, Britain’s oldest recorded town, is renowned for its history, oysters, roses and much more. Its engineering has similar claims to fame and is practised by organisations whose influence is worldwide.

It was a proud statement for many years that ‘The World turns on Colchester Lathes’. Today the town is associated with the finest diesel engines, the very best fan engineering, power station coolant screens and noise reduction techniques.

Other companies produce a variety of products from electronic components to toothpaste tubes. The service industries in the fields of education, telecommunications, water supply and printing are also well represented.

WHAT IS THE SOCIETY?

Inaugurated in 1944, the object of the Society is to further the professional and social involvement of those interested in engineering. Click here to See History

WHAT DOES IT OFFER?

The Society provides a varied programme of meetings. In the winter session these usually take the form of lectures held at the Colchester Institute. In the summer session visits to industrial sites are arranged.

Some of the lectures are chosen to have a more general appeal to families and friends. There are several social events each year.

WHO ARE ITS MEMBERS?

The membership of the Society is drawn from all who have an active interest in engineering whether working, studying or retired.

No formal qualifications are required for membership. Young engineers may join as Student members
