PRESIDENT'S NOTES
We are already almost half way through the year and I wish all our Members the very best for whatever they are doing this Summer in the way of holidays and relaxation - enjoy yourselves.
The Summer Programme has got off to a good start with the Social Event, the Recycling Challenge and then the Weekend Tour for which we owe a tremendous vote of thanks to Keith Middleton who organized it, ran it, guided it, paid the bills and was still able to refund a sizable amount of the forecast charges. Well done, Keith!
The recycled Recycling Challenge took off thanks to Mike Rumsey's perseverance and about 40 children and some parents thoroughly enjoyed the experience as did a number of Members of the Council and my thanks goes to all of those who helped Mike especially the wives. The ingenuity of the children participating was eye opening and they are already looking forward to our next recycling promotion.
In the coming weeks we have two visits to Alstons followed by a visit to Marshalls of Mildenhall on 6 July at 10.30 on site and then the Garrison visit on 28 July. We must meet at the new garrison gate at 1.15 - 1.30 pm., where we shall be directed to a parking space. We shall be given a presentation and then a coach tour of the garrison (lasting overall 2 hours).
Please note that it is important to read the Newsletters carefully in case any date or times of our visits have to be varied from those set out in the Programme Card. The Council are preparing the winter programme at the moment and if you have any ideas for presentations for this year or in the future please give me a call - it will be appreciated. Likewise if you have any views on our activities also let me know as we may need to be informed if we are meeting you expectations.
I am delighted to welcome so many new Members who have joined since the AGM. I hope you find your Membership worth while. Please join in the activities we arrange - it will help you to meet others with similar interests.
Best wishes to all. John
